Spinal & Limb Adjustments
Spinal and limb adjustments can be administered manually, instrument assisted or low force.
The intention of a chiropractic adjustment is to affect or correct the alignment, motion and/or function of a vertebral joint (spine) and joints of the limbs i.e. shoulder, elbow, wrist/ hand, hip, knee and ankle/ foot.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is the use of a solid needle for deactivation and desensitization of a myofascial trigger point. It then stimulates a healing response in that tissue and reduce the biomechanical stress of the treated muscle.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
The aim of this evidence-based technique is to provide an optimal environment for the healing, by either modifying physiologic responses to injury (e.g., inflammation, muscle spasms, pain) or enhancing components of the normal musculoskeletal function (e.g., increase range of motion, increased muscular strength). No single therapeutic approach in isolation will completely resolve an impairment of musculoskeletal function.
The technique approach to soft tissue manipulation is with the use of five different stainless steel instruments to release scar tissue, adhesions, and fascial restrictions.
Treatment effects of IASTM: Breakup abnormal densities in tissue, stimulatethe nervous system, re-initiate first stage healing via proliferation.
IASTM techniques aim to treat the following Tissue Extensibility Dysfunctions: Scarring and fibrosis, facial tension and densification, neural tension, muscle shortening, neurologic restriction, trigger points.
Soft Tissue/ Massage
Massage Therapy is aimed is to improve muscular strength, flexibility and decrease pain through the application of soft tissue techniques to return to a greater level of functional performance.
Treatments include specific soft tissue techniques such as deep tissue massage, myofascial release and trigger point therapy.
Rehabilitation, Stretching & Exercise Prescription
We aim to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life for your daily activities, work and sport. A plan is designed to help your mobility, strength and fitness. To achieve the best results, combining treatment with stretching and exercise is recommended.
Rigid Tape & Kinesiology Tape
Rigid Strapping Tape: Used to prevent joint and ligament injury during sport, or to protect and stabilise a previously injured joint. It provides physical barriers to movement, as well as enhancing proprioception and muscle function.
Kinesiology Tape: When applied correctly, the unique elasticity causes the skin to form convolutions and wrinkle. This decompresses the tissue immediately below the skin. It is believed that this has three main effects:
•Fluid effect- improving blood and lymphatic flow in the taped area
•Mechanical effect- improving the slide and glide between tissue layers
•Neurological effect- altering the perception of pain and improving body awareness
